Employees, contractor test positive for COVID-19 at WPMMA 1/22

Fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were detected at Wichita Presbyterian Manor this week.

Three memory care residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The residents are isolated and will be cared for by designated team members following PMMA’s Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) Policy, KDHE and CDC protocols for infection control and prevention and physician’s orders.

In addition, four non-direct resident care employees, six essential health care employees and one direct care contractor tested positive for COVID-19. The employees and contractor last worked various days between January 12 and January 19, passing pre-shift screening and wearing personal protective equipment as required.

The Sedgwick County Health Department has been notified, and we will follow their guidance. Visitation continues with infection control precautions and social distancing requirements per new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. These cases bring our total since December 29 to 25, with 18 employees, one contractor, and six residents.

Wichita Presbyterian Manor will follow the PMMA® Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) Policy and CDC and KDHE guidelines for when the employee may return to work and recommendations related to work practices and restrictions.

PMMA strongly encourages residents’ families, employees and residents to carefully consider obtaining a vaccine for themselves as well as their loved ones. Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large.
